Sunnah
'He who clings to my Sunnah when my Ummah is corrupt, will receive the Reward of a hundred martyrs.'
What is Sunnah?
Sunnah means "the way and the manners of our beloved Prophet Muhammad
SALLALLAHU ‘ALAYHI WASALLAM".
The Sunnah of Muhammad SALLALLAHU ‘ALAYHI WASALLAM
refers to his traditions and actions, including specific words, actions,
and practices.
In the character of Muhammad SALLALLAHU ‘ALAYHI
WASALLAM, Allah Subhanu Wata’ala has poured down all the
properties of a perfect human being, a role model which should be followed
by every person If he wants peace in this life and the next. In The
Holy Quran, Allah says:
“There is indeed a good model for you in the Messenger of
Allah – for the one who has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and
remembers Allah profusely.” – Chapter 33- Surah Al-Ahzab:21.
"Surely, there has come to you a Messenger from amongst you, hard on whom is your suffering, for the good of you he craves and for believers he is kind, merciful.” – Chapter 9 – Surah At-Tauba: 128.
So it is clear that Prophet Muhammad (S) is the role model for mankind.
So we should try to adopt Sunnah in our daily life. If we do a particular task according to Sunnah, then the whole task would be counted as an Ibadat( worship). So why not earn the Ajar and Sawaab during drinking water, eating food, travelling, sleeping, waking up etc.
EXAMPLE: To greet with salaam is one of the great Sunnats for a Muslim. Rasulullah SALLALLAHU ‘ALAYHI WASALLAM has laid a lot of emphasis on this. It increases love amongst people. Salaam should be made to every Muslim whether one knows him or not (Bukhari). salaam is an Islamic right and to know the person is not a requirement.
